I decided to study at the University of Cumbria because I wanted to meet new people and to experience a new type of culture. One of my friend's from my home institution recommended the University of Cumbria to me, after coming here herself, because it's similar here to our school back home as it's small and friendly.
What I like most is how all the tutors are very accommodating, they'll meet you if you don't understand something and they always have extra time to look over your essays. I'm hoping this experience is going to help me in my future, especially to get a job, by gaining the skills I need to relate to people and by being able to adapt easily to different situations.
Although it's similar here to home, I feel like there's much more to do here. There's more to see because it's all new. I go to town a lot and do a lot of shopping! I go to the cinema or hang out with friends who are all really great. The Students Union organises a lot of events for students, such as nights out, fancy dress themes etc. So there's always something going on and you can always find people to go out with. In Lancaster town centre there's a bunch of different places to go to. I've also visited the Lake District, Chester, London, Edinburgh, Leeds, Manchester, I've gone all over. The trains are amazing, you can get anywhere with a student rail pass, and it's cheap too. I also hope to travel a little bit outside of the UK before I leave. I never really get homesick because I think there's just so much to do every day and I'm able to talk to my family over the phone and the internet. I would recommend to anyone planning on studying abroad to make the most of their time, to travel and visit as many places as they can and to not be afraid of going out and meeting new people and introducing themselves.
