The university being near to New York city is a real advantage. One can enjoy the city life as well as have a great college life. What you actually get out of the university depends a great deal on oneself. Be prepared to slog it out here.

One needs to take up standardised tests like GRE and TOEFL, I prepared for these exams using books n internet, did not attend any coaching classes, feel its a waste of time. I needed a visa, f1 visa. My interview was easy. I got the tickets easily, no issues. I took Lufthansa airlines and landed at New York airport. The bagage rules were 2 baggage + lappy. No service like Meet and Greet by the univ.

I got teaching assistantship.

The masters program is great. I like the way it has been structured. Some profs are good and some are average, there is no spoon feeding here though! One must be prepared to do a lot of independent study. Library ,labs ,etc are all good.

I live in a rented apartment. I do not get time for sports. Part time job depend on availability. City is ok, near 2 new york is an advantage.

There is no such thing as a placement cell here. Its ok on difficulty level to get a job for international students. I dont have idea about the organisations but more than 20 attend the job fairs at the university. There are alumni associations here and they are quite helpful.
