Make the most of what is being offered to you here because there are a lot of opportunities.

As a part of the process you have to give the GRE & the TOEFEL exam. You get books especially for GRE & TOEFEL in the market which are very helpful. Coaching classes are a personal choice depending on your level of preparation. I did speak to a couple of educational counselors for some guidance regarding the courses to be taken & the entire process of application. Guys, you do need a visa unless you are a US citizen or a green card holder. Ticketing is done through travel agents who offer good deals. Airlines do offer student concessions. I landed at the Logan International Airport, Boston, MA. The airport is a 15-20 mins drive from the university. The baggage rules are mainly for the weight & dimensions which differ from airline to airline. Excess baggage is allowed but you would have to pay for it. Well I didn’t face any kind of immigration issues at the airport. I had some seniors who had come to pick up the airport.

There is a lot of competition for assistantships/ scholarships.

The program structure is pretty good. The professors are helpful, and with some more improvement things would become even more better.

I live at a walking distance, 15 mins from the campus. The university does have accommodation like hostels. The lecture halls are nice & spacious and well equipped. There a variety of sports facilities offered by the university. Depending on the university campus you get on-campus jobs. Generally it is easy to get one. The social scene is good, since there are a lot of Indians in the university. You don’t feel like you are missing India. The night life is also good. The weather is a bit rough since the temperatures drop a lot which we are not used to since we are from India. There is an international student society which sponsors college festivals & some more events for recreation.

There is no placement cell as such but there are 2 major career fairs in the university which take place during the academic year. Many top-notch companies do come for recruitment at these career fairs. The work permit process is not difficult to get through. There is an alumni which is very helpful in telling about job placements.
