I wanted to study in the UK so that I could improve my English Language skills. I'd never been to the UK before but I had wanted to come for a long time so I felt the UK was the best option for me. My advice to anyone thinking of studying abroad would be to try to be as open as you can. Don't be shy to speak to people because you think you might make a mistake with the language.

What I really like about the University of Cumbria is the small classes. There are only around 20 students in each class which I think is great as the teacher is able to interact and support students individually.

There are a lot of things for students to do in their free time in Carlisle. In the University you can go to gym and in the city there is a cinema and many shops and restaurants. I think that the lifestyle is totally different here than Spain. First of all, the timetable for example, people eat their meals at very different times to Spain so when I arrived to Carlisle I was in shock as I am used to having dinner at 10-11pm not 6pm. Also the weather is a little bit different as quite often here it is raining. At first I thought that it would take me a long time to get used to this life on my own in a new country, but as I had been living away from home for 2 years before coming here, it has been different because it is another country but not difficult.
